YOUTH LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY PROGRAMS - HOCKEY 101, 201, 301

Picture
The Printscape Arena youth learn to play hockey programs are designed around the guidelines of USA Hockey’s ADM model, which creates a fun, relaxed learning environment for participants to learn the fundamental skills of ice hockey.  The non-competitive and positive atmosphere not only makes a child’s first experience with hockey positive, but also creates an environment that they can excel.  Participants will not only learn the skills and game of ice hockey, but will also develop self-esteem and self-confidence.

The program operates under the premise that if a player's introduction to the sport is positive, they will develop a lifetime love of the game.

Our hockey programs are taught by the Printscape Arena hockey staff, who is comprised of USA Hockey certified coaches with an extensive playing background.

HOCKEY 101 — YOUTH AGES 6 TO 13

Step 2 of the Hockey program progression.

Participants start from square one, learning the basic skills of ice skating, while being introduced to individual ice hockey specific skills (stick-handling, shooting, passing).  Set in a fun and nurturing environment, this introductory program provides all participants a comfort level to enjoy their first experience with hockey, while developing the fundamental skills to succeed in the next program progression steps.

Requirements: USA Hockey player registration and full hockey equipment.

HOCKEY 201 — YOUTH AGES 6 TO 13

Step 3 of the Hockey program progression.

Participants will build upon the individual skills learned in Hockey 101 (skating, shooting, stick handling), will learn more intermediate hockey specific individual skills (intermediate skating skills), all while being introduced to game rules, strategy, and team specific skills (positioning, offense, defense).  The focus of the program is to create a fun atmosphere for all participants, so they continue to enjoy the game of ice hockey while continuing skill development.

Requirements: Completion of Hockey 101, USA Hockey player registration, and full hockey equipment.

HOCKEY 301 — YOUTH AGES 7 TO 14

Step 4 of the Hockey program progression.

This program shifts the educational focus more towards team skill and game theory, while introducing individual skills such as stick-handling, passing, shooting, and positioning. Each hour long class includes 40 minutes of on ice instruction followed by 20 minutes of game experience.

Requirements: Completion of Hockey 101, Hockey 201 (or Mini Mites), USA Hockey player registration, and full hockey equipment.
