PRINTSCAPE ARENA AT SOUTHPOINTE INTRODUCES LABATT GET IN THE GAME, A LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY PROGRAM FOR ADULTS
Canonsburg, PA - Printscape Arena at Southpointe is proud to introduce LABATT GET IN THE GAME, a learn to play hockey program for adults. The program is for the adult who has never played hockey before. It combines on ice skills sessions with instructional game time. The program is co-ed, non-checking, for people over 18 years of age, and is set in an insanely positive, judgement free atmosphere. No ice skating or hockey experience is required in order to participate. Over the course of the program, participants will learn the fundamental skills of ice hockey, including how to skate if they’ve never skated before, make new friends, and learn the greatest game on Earth. On the final week, participants graduate by playing in their first organized hockey game. Friends and family are encouraged to attend as the new hockey players graduate into the world of hockey.
“Brand Labatt is synonymous with hockey,” said Jason Ciganik, District Sales Manager, FIFCO USA. “We are proud to be associated with a program that will raise awareness for the great game of hockey, ‘Cheers to Hockey’.”

Printscape Imaging & Graphics in Pittsburgh typically outputs graphics and signage for other brands, but one huge project required massive prints of the shop's own logo. Printscape obtained naming right to a local ice and sports arena and used a plethora of their wide-format printers to create exterior and interior signage that would rebrand the entire facility with its new name, Printscape Arena at Southpointe.

People either nod and smile or they look at you strangely when you mention Pickleball. The sport, which only dates back to the 1960s, is becoming increasingly popular with people of all ages.
That is why, when area seniors made the request that the competition be considered for the Senior Games season of activities, planners were pleased to research and coordinate the options that made it possible to announce here that Pickleball will be premiered at Printscape Arena at Southpointe, 114 Southpointe Boulevard, Canonsburg, on Thursday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For those who are not familiar with Pickleball, the game can be played on an outdoor badmintonsized court, and it can also be played on an indoor court. The portable net is slightly shorter and lower than a standard tennis net. The paddle resembles a large ping-pong paddle and can be made of either wood or poly fiberboard. The ball is a little larger than a ping pong ball, made of plastic with holes in it, similar to a small whiffle ball and matches can be played as either singles or doubles.
An official pickleball court is approximately a fourth to a third of the size of a traditional tennis court, which means longer rallies with less area to cover. Therefore, it is easier on the knees, elbows and back. However, don’t be fooled, this low-impact exercise can quickly make you sweat. In addition to being fun, it is believed to help players develop and maintain an improved level of fitness, coordination, balance, and agility. This 2018 Senior Games event uses rules based on those from the USA Pickleball Association. Teams consist of two players and one optional designated alternate, 50 years-of-age or older. Teams must register for this doubles team event by May 24. Additional rules and regulations will appear online at swpa-aaa. org by March 15.

If you flip through the pages of the fall/winter program guide for Printscape Arena at Southpointe, you can find times for learning to ice skate, arranging a skating party, learning to play hockey – even if you’re middle-aged and you’ve “never ever” played the game before.
But as the new ownership of Printscape Arena says in its tagline, “We’re more than just ice.”
Operations director Zach Branovan agrees.
“We’re a turf and sports arena, too,” Branovan says of the 125,000 square-foot facility at 114 Southpointe Boulevard that recently transitioned to new ownership. “You can play nearly any sport you can think of in this facility.”
