Canonsburg, PA - Printscape Arena at Southpointe is proud to announce a new hockey team in town, the Southpointe Grizzlies Special Hockey. The team was formed to educate and encourage individuals in Washington and other nearby counties with developmental disabilities, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injuries and other rare genetic disorders, to participate in the game of ice hockey. As a new local expansion franchise, the Southpointe Grizzlies are joining three teams made up of nearly 180 athletes across the region. They are a part of Hockey Sticks Together Foundation. Hockey Sticks Together was organized to provide leadership, strategic direction, fund development and organizational resource support to non-profit special needs and inner-city hockey programs in Western Pennsylvania.
"The Hockey Sticks Together Foundation is extremely excited to add another organization to the HST community. As we continue to support each other while enhancing the brand partnership of the Pittsburgh Penguins as well as the Penguins Foundation; we are confident that the Grizzlies addition will serve as another footprint model to build from serving as an example for future additions." Gregg Kaminski, Director of Operations, Hockey Sticks Together Foundation.
